Education's Downward Slide of Enthusiasm

Students were asked to indicate how they feel about various aspects of school life with a happy, medium, or sad face. This graph represents the percentage of "happy face" responses at each grade level over four consecutive years. This graph is from one Illinois district, but it reflects every district where the survey has been conducted.
